Increasing consumers towards non-cash payments has increased business interest in card-enabled devices.

The number of businesses accepting card payments is growing. According to statistics from the Albanian Association of Banks, in the middle of this year the number of POSs or electronic points of sale placed in businesses by the banking system exceeded the threshold of 10,000 units.

Compared to a year ago, the number of these devices has increased by 23%

Equipping with POS enables businesses to increase sales and at the same time reduce cash transactions.

These banking products have reduced costs for businesses and aligned commissions with the seasonal business sales cycle.

The strengthening of the fight against informality is a factor that has encouraged the use of electronic payments by citizens and their acceptance by businesses.

Last year, Albanians made bank card payments worth ALL 21.3 billion, or about 170 million euros, up 16% year-on-year.
