Today was Blackout Tuesday - a day promoted by activists to bring about change, following the death of George Floyd. This movement has spread rapidly on social networks, where organizations, brands and individuals are spreading the message through a black photo and the hashtag #BlackoutTuesday. Many of these posts have also been posted with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter and this is where the problem lies.

While these posts can be made for good purposes, many activists have shown that by posting the black photo with this hashtag it blocks information channels and the latest news about the protests and the situation in the US.

When you use the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, the photo is added to the search header, making posts that really relate to that cause disappear. This makes it difficult to inform and communicate the protesters.

For this reason, people are being asked to be careful with the use of the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, as instead of helping, they are ruining the work of many people.
