Renowned director Gjergj Xhuvani has died today at a hospital in Rome after suffering from a serious illness. His son, who is serving a prison sentence for the murder of 4 people 5 years ago, has requested permission from the prison to be present at his father's funeral.
He has submitted a request to the General Directorate of Prisons, but it is not yet known whether the request will be granted or rejected. Kostandin Xhuvani is the son of actress Luiza Xhuvani and the late director Gjergj Xhuvani. Five years ago he shot dead 5 people in a club in the Elbasan street area. Xhuvani was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
