was originally published anonymously.
On the first page, where
the author's name should have been, only the text By a Lady appears.

Three sisters lose their father and find themselves financially tight because of
their sister-in-law's poverty. A series of events caused by
sudden poverty will also affect their personal lives, especially the two
older sisters.
Elinora and Mariana Deshud are completely opposite to each other. Mariana, who is guided by her heart, falls head over heels in love with a handsome but unstable guy, always looking for a dowry. She completely ignores the warnings of her sister, Elinora, who, with her extremely reserved nature, tries to hide her romantic disappointments even from her closest people.
Through their parallel experiences of love, the girls mature and learn to reconcile reason and emotion in an effort to find happiness in a society where status and money govern even love.
This satirical work, written with a subtle sense of humor, is considered
to this day a cornerstone of world literature, which is why it has been screened many times for cinema and television.

1) – You have no ambition, I am aware of that. Your wishes
are too modest.
– As modest as those of many other people, I believe. Like

8) Marianë Deshud kishte lindur me një fat të pazakontë. Ajo kishte lindur për të zbuluar rrejshmërinë e mendimeve të veta dhe për të kundërshtuar, me qëndrimin e saj, parimet e veta të preferuara.
