The South of Spain, but not only, has been committed to saving the life of 2-year-old Julien Roselló, who fell to a 100m yard last Sunday. The operation that entered on the seventh day has caught the entire Spanish nation.
Rescuers are struggling to get the baby healthy by sending heavy equipment to the steep. "It's amazing the energy we are seeing here and the desire to bring that kid," said Angel Vidal, one of the engineers engaged in the rescue operation on Friday evening.
Julen fell in the hole 25 cm wide and 100 inches deep when the family was passing through a private property in Totalan, Malaga a week ago.
Officials are not able to detect life signs, but say they are working in such a way as to find the child alive.
The trucks brought drilling equipment and drilling tubes to the venue on Friday. The first drilling of the two tunnels has started today and will require around 15 hours of work. Citizens of the city are praying for Julen and his family.
The Spanish media say that the boy's parents are suffering another tragedy after that in 2017 when a three-year-old boy suddenly died of health problems while walking on the beach.
"We are experiencing incredibly difficult times for relatives, friends and family neighbors and we want to send them our support at this moment," said government spokeswoman Isabel Celaa on Friday at a press conference.
Julen's father, José Roselló, confirmed that he heard the boy cry and 30 seconds later, did not hear it anymore: "I would have been buried there and he was here, with his mother."
Authorities believe that Julen may still be alive with the fact that there is an air pocket below.
