Imagine the Mediterranean! What comes to your mind? Winding shores, filled with rocks and coves. Fantastic sky, without a stain on the blue ceiling. And of course, an extraordinary sea, for which no epithet can not be fair. If you have not yet planned this summer vacation, you are still in time to make the right choice. The fantastic beaches of southern Albania are the pearls of the Mediterranean and you must definitely visit them. Follow us on this guide!
Albania, your next goal
Try to name beaches like the Costa Brava, the Costa Azur or the Amalfi Coast ... are the first destinations to come to mind for an unforgettable summer vacation on the blue and white sandy beaches. It is time to add to this list also a new place: the Albanian Riviera.
The best beaches of the Albanian Riviera
Albania finally opens its wings for travelers and vacationers and does not need many arguments, just take a look at the pictures. Beaches resemble paradise on earth (and some are almost abandoned). Archaeological surprise and all with the sense of discovering one of the best secrets on the other side of the Mediterranean.
A shore filled with surprises
The Riviera has no defined boundaries, but if you want to set up a gate, it would probably be in Vlora, 150 kilometers south of the Albanian capital, Tirana. Here is the place where the Adriatic meets Joni, at a seaman meeting inviting you to join from the first moment. Vlora comes with a great historical burden: the independence of Albania from the Ottoman Empire was proclaimed here in 1912. Since then, it has grown to become a center for the important port activity, which also leaves the beaches of the first of the fantastic Riviera.
The newest beach available may be the next choice if you do not want to divide yourself from the many bars of this beach. Cold Water, just two miles away, is a stretch of the less traveled beaches, but with an enviable activity level.
If you want a good leisure offer, Vlora should be your choice
Following the coast to the south, the next stop is the quiet city of Himara , divided between modern resorts and traditional Greek taverns. A little far away from Himara is Llamani , a lovely beach, surrounded by two hills, very popular for local tourism.
Are you looking for a more relaxed experience? Go to Qeparo , a picturesque village caught behind two rocks and overlooking the Mediterranean scene, what you have in your head: the golden harbor, the turquoise sea, the eternal sky.
Achievement in Saranda, the Riviera's strategic center and a destination that is gaining popularity in the Balkans. Saranda , despite its modest population, is experiencing a period of high growth, which is distinctly distinguished from the "boom" of buildings in all the surrounding hills of the coastal city. But for the time being (and fortunately), Saranda remains a pleasant option as a base for exploring the nearby beaches when you have exhausted those on the road.
Oasis of Ksamil
Among them, Ksamil gets the best trophy, not just in the area, but probably across the Riviera. This small archipelago, 20 miles south of Saranda, has three small white-sand beaches that can almost swim between them. Ksamili is very close to the ancient city of Butrint, today one of the most important archaeological sites in Albania. With a national park, Butrint shows signs of ancient Roman and Greek settlements that lived here, in an interesting mix that will take you half a day to get you out of the beach towel.
Come and discover the new Mediterranean paradise. Or do you need more reasons?
