It's not just about sweets. The problem is that sugar is in almost everything we eat, from barbecue sauce to drinks. So really, we're all people hungry for sugar.
Blogger Kate Bigam tells her story after giving her a coupon to participate in a detoxification program. The program was called 30 days of sugar detoxification and the volunteer had to give up many favorite foods.
Each day, participants received an email detailing the meals program on that day: raw almond butter, spinach salad with hemp oil and lentils, organic wheat bread, popcorn with cinnamon and the only dessert that was ever allowed was a candy cupcake natural. They were even advised to avoid fruit because of the high content of natural sugar.
May start the day with a bowl of oatmeal, organic vanilla and nuts.
"By the end of detoxification, you feel physically very well, sleeps well and have more energy during the day. Even the allergy problems were alleviated. But emotionally, I was dried up. Yes, I wanted to eat better. Yes, I wanted to be more aware of what came into my body. Detox gave me a valid understanding of the negative effects of sugar on my body, but let's be honest: my life without sugar has not lasted over 30 days. I decided to change my daily life style, which eventually included something that made me happier, like a pimple filled with sugar, "Kate writes.
