Circulatory diseases are the main cause of deaths in our country, but some cities are seen to have the highest prevalence of life lost from cardiovascular symptoms.

According to INSTAT data for deaths from bloodstream diseases, processed by Monitor in relation to the population, in 2018 the cities of Korça, Berat, Gjirokastra, Shkodra and Vlora were the cities with the highest number of lost lives (for 100 thousand inhabitants).

In Korça, the number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants was 510, the highest in the country, closely followed by Berat, with 508 lost per 100 inhabitants. It seems that Korça and Berat are the circles that suffer the most from illnesses that come from the weak heart.

On the other hand, the cities that are least affected are Elbasan, Tirana, Lezha, Durres. In 2018 Elbasan died of infarction and other bloodstream diseases 337 people per 100 thousand inhabitants, followed by Tirana with 347 lives lost per 100 thousand inhabitants and Lezha (361), Durrës (371).

"The heart" is killing many young ages

According to INSTAT, in 2018, deaths from the group "Circulatory Blood" disease accounted for 53.2% of total deaths. This disease group continues to be the main cause of death, with a death rate of 404.7 per 100 thousand inhabitants and compared with the previous year there is a 2.7% decrease.

Prevalence in both women and men is equal, with 50.2% of male cases.

Though the total number of bloodstream diseases killed fewer people last year, there is a significant increase in lost lives at younger ages, especially infants (under 1 year).

Last year's data show that the disease killed 20 percent more people at the age of 0-34, compared with a year earlier. Circulatory diseases killed 139 people in the young age (0-34 years) from 115 during 2017 last year.

In 2018, there were 33 deaths from circulatory disease in children under 1 year old, or 32% more than one year earlier.

For the age group 30-34, the case of fatalities was 30, doubling compared to 2017.

While the elderly seem to be keeping under control the diseases of the bloodstream apparatus, with deaths over the age of 65, which were reduced by 3% in 2018.

causes

The main cause of this disease is the lifestyle and nutritional diet. In the 1990s, Albania had the lowest prevalence of deaths from cardiovascular diseases than in all countries in the region. At the beginning of the transition, the deaths from this diagnosis were 125 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in 2018 it amounted to 404 per 100 thousand inhabitants.

The number of lives lost from cardiovascular disease has almost tripled in the last three decades of transition.

Mortality from ischemic heart disease in Albania is highest in the Southeast Europe region referring to the Global Disease Barrier, and tumors are also increasing.

Experts list several reasons related to the lifestyle that Albanians have created in recent years. The addition of meat products after the 1990s and the amount of fats, avoiding the Mediterranean diet with fresh fruits and vegetables and the consumption of ready-to-eat meals are the main causes of heart disease.

Doctors claim that sedentary life without physical activity is just as likely to cause dietary nutrition. In general, the mentality of good nutrition in Albania is linked to the abundant consumption of meat and fats, while in developed countries is considered good food consumption of organic fruits and vegetables.
