Who else looks forward to the hot season? The days become longer and you have more time to spend on the beaches or in the backyard. And of course nothing goes better with such an atmosphere than a drink. We do not suggest you alcohol in this period with super high temperatures, but there are some things you should remember before you drink an Aperol Spritz for example or another drink that has alcohol, like beers! Here experts discover everything that happens to your body when you drink alcohol and outdoors is hot, which may also affect your health if you are not careful.

Alcohol can make you feel more hot than the scorching summer heat

"Alcohol is a vasodilator, which means that it clears your blood vessels," explained Julia Blank, a family doctor at the Providence Saint John Health Center in Santa Monica. This makes it easier for you to vaporize and body temperature increases on the surface of the skin, making you feel terribly hot.

Because of high blood pressure, you feel that the heat is approaching the skin surface. The problem is that even outside is super warm, which increases the chances of you feeling warm because of the alcoholic beverages you are consuming.

Alcohol is dehydrated

In addition to heat, alcohol is a diuretic and relieves your body too much juices. "Alcohol causes your kidneys to release more water through the urine than normal," says Hallie Zwibel, a physician and director of the Sports Medicine Center at the New York Institute of Technology. "So now you're losing water through sweat and urine, which can make you feel dehydrated and unable to calm down."

Good news? There are ways to drink safely in the heat

You probably will not feel as if you are thirsty because you are drinking, but it is not exactly like this. Your urine will look more diluted than it actually is, giving you the illusion that you have enough juices in your body. But doctors recommend that you drink a glass of water every 30 minutes, which will help you to ring the body again after the missed fluids. Another way to keep extra juices is to eat salt-based foods.

At any moment if you are drinking alcohol or not, you begin to feel tired, mixed or confused, go to a shady place and drink as much water as possible. These are the warning signs of the heat strike.
