Two people who are eating in an average restaurant in Albania will not exceed the amount of 2,500 ALL. Although compared to a restaurant of the same level in Switzerland, the bill in Albania is about four times lower compared to the countries of the region. Albania is listed among the expensive countries along with Montenegro. The data are published on the Numbeo portal, which reports various indicators on living costs and quality of life.

In Montenegro, in an average restaurant, a three-dish lunch for two people costs an average of 3,000 ALL, more expensive than in some European countries such as Slovakia, the Czech Republic or Poland, where the same menu costs 2,800 ALL.

The cheapest countries in Europe to eat abroad rank Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, where a standard three-plate menu costs less than 2,000 ALL.

Serbia also ranks fourth in Europe for cheap fare in restaurants, with an average of 2,325 Lek for two persons.

For Albanians that this year have a holiday destination Greece, they should be prepared for a lunch for two in an average restaurant there on average 3,900 leks, while in Spain over 4,200 leks. Croatia is a more economical option since lunch for two people does not exceed 3,500 ALL.
While in Italy, which is known for its flavor in food, a lunch for two people will go on average 6,000 leks. Italy ranks 12th most expensive country in Europe.

Europe's most expensive countries

Europe's most expensive place to dine in an average restaurant is Switzerland. Two people who will order a meal with three main dishes will pay an average of 10,887 ALL. Similarly, it is also Iceland, where on average the same standard cost about 10,447 Lek, followed by Norway at a cost of 9,966 Lek.

Denmark ranks fourth in Europe, where in an average restaurant two people will pay for a three-meal meal of 8.100 ALL, while in the Netherlands (the fifth in the list), the bill will go on average 7.300 Lek, as much as in Finland and in Belgium.

But how much do Albanians spend for restaurants?

About 5% of the expenses of Albanian families goes to the group of restaurants and hotels. According to INSTAT in the Family Budget Survey, the expenses for "Restaurants and hotels" recorded an increase of 11.8% compared to last year, which has come as a result of the increase of expenditures of the "restaurants" subgroup. In the European Union, spending on this category accounts for about 8% of total household expenditure.
