In a statement to the media Erion Veliaj has called on citizens to vote and also has made a thankfulness to his opponent in the race, Arben Skenderaj.

I know that there are parties that have political convictions, who have old and unclean sloppiness, but these choices are for our city. These choices are for the city, for kindergartens, nurseries, for how to clean the city. So the over-politicization and the use of elections to settle accounts that anyone has with the past does not make sense. I am happy to see that the whole city has the right to vote. I want to thank the other contestant, is a Tirane girl who, despite the convictions we have different, one thing unites us. Like him, like me, we decided to raise the kids here. This city we have our home, to take root here. These choices are for what brings us together and for the good performance of our jobs in the city.
