The Halloween party is coming. Fear of ghosts, mummies, supernatural beings is tempered by the word "dessert or joke". An excuse to celebrate, without question, an anniversary already recognized and celebrated around the world. And let's challenge your courage by proposing and advising you seven ideal places for a night, that of October 31st truly 'scary'.

Kolmanskop, Namibia . This ancient village, known for its diamonds, has been the base for German miners to seek prosperity. Although the price of diamonds has dropped after World War I, the magnificent center of German architectural style amidst an African wilderness has been abandoned. Over time, the houses are covered with sand until the rooms are fully filled. Tourists may visit them, but be careful not to tease the snakes hiding under the sand.

Humberstone, Chile . Thousands of people have lived and worked in the dry and unbearable wilderness of northern Chile for more than 60 years, driving the world's largest potassium nitrate deposit. Although not completely abandoned (about 250 residents still live there), most of the buildings are already vacant. Today it is a place populated by tourists from one of the strangest places. The site is preserved by UNESCO for cultural heritage.

Pripyat, Ukraine . Deserted after the devastation of Chernobyl in 1986, Pripyat was a thriving city, hosting about 50,000 people, before history's nuclear tragedy struck Ukraine. This proves how a residential center can be completely emptied after such a tragedy. The most mysterious area of the city is the amusement park, where the car crash and roller coaster games are a fantastic spectacle.

Arthur Port, Tasmania . This small town on the Tasman Peninsula is considered one of the most ghost-infested places in Australia, considering it has been a colony for years. Apart from being the home of criminals, it is also home to Port Arthur's horrific massacre in 1996. Some who have visited have witnessed ghosts, strange noises and the ringing of the long-defunct church bell. A quiet place, no?

Bodie, America. Situated between the hills of the Sierra Nevada, California, Bodie is one of North America's most famous ghost towns, the classic city of the Far West. Some buildings of this ancient mining town are still standing and rich in dusty treasures that are connected to the city's past. However, I don't even mind stealing something from there: for there are ghosts protecting the city from thieves.

Grytviken, South Georgia. This station in Antarctica has been abandoned since 1966, as whaling became so massive that it was no longer worth pursuing. All that's left is the scary buildings, the graves of former workers. Grytviken is surrounded by snowy mountains, but there was no need for snow to make this place cool and sad.

Hashima Island, Japan - Also known as the "Island of Shipwrecks", it carries a derelict carbon plant and is a mysterious jungle of ghostly buildings with dusty cement, dwellings belonging to ancient inhabitants. By 1974, due to the closure of the mining plant, Hashima has been abandoned. At one point in its history, the island welcomed 5,000 workers. Today it serves as a tourist destination, especially during this period of Halloween.
