After the scary spread of coronavirus around the world and the rise of cases in France (4,500 affected and 91 dead) luxury companies have decided to switch from antibody production to perfume production. LVMH, the company that owns Christian Dior, Guerlain and Givenchy, will produce hand disinfectants and give them free of charge to the French authorities to help fight the coronavirus.

LVMH confirmed in a press release Sunday that the initiative was taken on the basis of disinfectant shortages in the market. It is not known whether this will affect the production of perfumes and other beauty products, but the company will continue to produce antibacterials for as long as necessary.

From today Christian Dior, Guerlain and Givenchy will begin producing hydroalcoholic gel, used as an antibacterial.

The initiative came after authorities around the world recommended washing hands as the main measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Consumers are overburdened with the purchase and use of antibacterial, causing shortages in the market.
