A 34-year-old cancer survivor died of coronavirus just two weeks after visiting Disney World and Universal Studios. Jeffrey Ghazarian, who tested positive for COVID-19 just days ago, is the youngest person in America to die of the virus. He died just two weeks after visiting the two parks in Florida.
â??Our beloved, sweet and fun Jeffrey went to Jesus this morning. Jeffrrey will be missed every day, but we are grateful for all the happy memories we had together, â?the family wrote on his Facebook page.
California resident's younger sister Lauren first updated her Facebook when testing positive for COVID-19 last Friday.
Jeffrey first flew from Los Angeles to Orlando, Florida, on March 2 and went on a two-day trip with friends to Disney World. The cough appeared on March 8, and the following day, while coughing, she bleed.
The next day, he returned home and immediately went to the ER (emergency department), where he was confirmed to have pneumonia. He was given antibiotics and told to self-quarantine after awaiting the results of the coronavirus test.
Not even days later, on March 13, Jeffrey received confirmation that he was receiving coronavirus. Disney World closed its doors for the first time on March 15 due to the pandemic. Jeffrey's death was first reported by TMZ (news website).
Although 34 years old, he developed serious coronavirus disease. The family said he had had asthma and bronchitis during his childhood, although he did not need a pump over the years. He also survived testicular cancer in 2016 with a single operation.
Just 3 days ago, he was told he should get the antiviral, which is currently undergoing clinical trials as a possible treatment for coronavirus.
His condition continued to deteriorate as he struggled with oxygen, and on Wednesday evening, the family reported he had trouble breathing with a blower.
On Thursday, the family said he died tragically after spending 5 days in hospital.
Disney World was criticized for the holiday it held before it was shut down by the pandemic. His death came when the US had confirmed more than 10,000 cases of coronavirus and more than 160 deaths.
