The NHS (National Health Service) warns that the main symptoms of Covid-19 are a persistent new cough and a high fever, which means you feel heat when you touch your chest or back and have trouble breathing.

Those with Covid-19 may, in fact, experience an abdominal pain before displaying these flu-like symptoms. A new study, published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, suggests that people may experience problems with the digestive tract, such as diarrhea, when infected with coronavirus.

Brennan MR Spiegel, co-editor of the American Journal of Gastroenterology, said: "Patients with Covid-19 who have problems with the digestive tract have a worse clinical outcome and higher risk of mortality compared to others, emphasizing the importance of including symptoms such as diarrhea to suspect Covid-19 before respiratory symptoms develop. "

However, developing these symptoms does not necessarily mean that you have Covid-19 and they are similar to other diseases, such as the common cold or the flu. Experts say some individuals may not have all of these symptoms or display none of them. Symptoms are thought to occur between two and 11 days.
