In Brazil's largest cemetery, Manaus, victims of coronavirus are being buried in mass graves. In Amazonas, one of Brazil's most affected countries by pandemic, many funeral services cannot be maintained, while public hospitals are overwhelmed by the increase in the number of new cases with COVID-19.
Before the country was affected by coronavirus, 20-35 people were buried in Manaus per day. While now the number has tripled, going to 100 people a day. In Manaus Parque Daruma Cemetery, work is now underway to excavate mass graves. These tombs were created specifically to bury the victims of coronavirus.
According to Brazilian authorities, in Brazil so far there are 43,592 affected by coronavirus and 2,769 victims.
