The first public request was made in Australia during 1885 with the following content: "8 hours of work, 8 hours of fun and 8 hours of sleep". The May Day celebrations are closely linked to the general and bloody protests of tens of thousands of Chicago factory workers in America on May 1, 1886.

The massive and grandiose demonstration took place a year later, in the same city on May 1, 1887. Thus began the journey of this important day and date, embraced by millions of workers, organized through the Trade Union Movement and the parties that focus on it. socio-economic position of workers.

The World Trade Union has set May 1 as the day when all workers are pressured to secure and advance their rights. In Europe, May 1 began its manifestation with the first Geneva International. From 1890 in Paris, the founding Congress of the Second International decided that May 1 should be International Workers' Day.

From 1891, the Third Congress of the International in Brussels, decided that: May 1 will be celebrated forever and in all countries, such as Workers' Day, in which workers will identify, advance and protect with Constitution and laws; freedoms, rights, working conditions, guaranteed average salary, daily, weekly, annual leave and other leave as needed.
