In just a few months, global pandemics have changed everything from the way we live and work to the way we buy or socialize. So it is not at all surprising that the impact of COVID-19 also affects pornography.

In mid-April, a search for "coronavirus" in Pornhub resulted in 1292 videos. Now the number has increased. At the same time, the term "quarantine" showed 5,273 results. While two weeks later it increased significantly. Other terms such as "COVID" and "lockdoa" (isolation) showed fewer results, but were still present.

While the independent producer of porn movies, Erika Lust published "Sex and Love in the Time of Quarantine" - a film for adults, shot and produced in quarantine.

People have been looking for "corona" and "COVID" on porn sites since January. Data published by Pornhub showed that there were over 6.8 million searches between the beginning of February and the beginning of March. 1.5 million searches on March 5 alone.

"I was not surprised when I saw COVID videos spread rapidly on Pornhub. In the past we have seen other trends and current events that are reflected in pornography. It's easy in the age of smartphones for porn producers to respond quickly to everything that happens in the world, "said Madita Oeming, a porn researcher and lecturer at Paderborn University in Germany.

She explains that producers are following the trend of the time, as do all media and marketers. Some may add words like "quarantine" to the title just to generate clicks. According to Oeming, some videos seem to seek to educate the audience, remembering to put on masquerades to take the situation seriously. As there are also those videos that include people breaking the quarantine and being arrested by the police. As Oeming says, what is dangerous has the potential to be exciting, just like anything forbidden. And the crown looks like the perfect taboo to attract peopleâ??s interest.
