Pop star Rihanna has been named one of Britain's richest women, with a fortune of 8 468 million.

150 of the 1,000 richest people in the UK are women, according to the latest edition of the Sunday Times Rich List. Of these, 25 are billionaires.

The huge fortune is partly related to the stormy success of her brand 'Fenty', which extends from cosmetics to fashion.

In an interview last year, she said: "I never thought I would make that money, so a number won't stop me from working." She ranks 48th on the list of richest women.

At the top of the list of women this year is Suede Kirsten Rausing, 67, with $ 12.1 billion.

Together with her brothers Jorn and Fin, Suede owns the firm behind the Tetra Pak packaging business.

Their uncle Hans died last year but his widow, Marit, is third on the list.

Author JK Rowling has amassed a fortune of $ 795 million from her books and films for 'Harry Potter'.

Other celebrities include actress Salma Hayek, who shares 6. 6.5 billion with her husband François-Henri Pinault, who oversees luxury brands such as Gucci through his family's Kering operation.
