A 72-year-old man was stabbed by his son in New York State during a video chat on the Zoom app with 20 other participants, police say.
Dwight Powers was attacked by his 32-year-old son, Thomas Scully-Powers, who then jumped out of a window and fled to the village of Amityville, Long Island.
He was arrested an hour after other participants in the conversation had notified police. The motive for the attack is not yet clear.
Mr Scully-Powers was later charged with second-degree murder.
In a statement, Suffolk County police said further information would be provided after the suspect, who suffered minor injuries, was treated and discharged from the hospital.
Police said they were alerted to the incident on Thursday afternoon, as some of the participants in the conversation saw their husbands falling to the ground, but it took some time for them to locate the house because the participants did not know where Mr. Powers.
Some of the people may have witnessed the attack, reports say. It is not clear what kind of meeting was taking place at Zoom.
