Greece has decided to postpone the opening of land borders with Albania for several days. The news was announced by the Greek Deputy Minister of Civil Defense Nikos Kardhalias.

According to Kardhalias, the conditions for opening the borders with Albania are not ready yet, because, as he said, there is a significant increase in the number of people infected with covid-19 in our country.

Kardhalias visited the Ioannina area, where he saw the situation at the airport. He stated that the opening of the borders with Albania is a decision that should be postponed. Even in the coming hours, there will be an official announcement from Athens, which is concerned about the situation on its northern borders.

Although the borders between Greece and Albania have been opened for almost all categories of citizens for almost two months, except for tourists, and so far not a single case of covid-19 has arrived from our country, it seems that the situation in Albania and Northern Macedonia is within its limits, so Greek authorities fear a new wave of covidia in the country.

There is still no date when the borders will be opened for tourists, but it is believed that July 7 or 15 will be the most likely, of course, if the situation in our country will be declining in infected cases.

Exceptions will be Promakona customs at the border with Bulgaria, from where, in addition to European citizens, Serbian citizens are allowed to enter the country, for whom it was decided to open the borders after a communication between Greek Prime Minister Mitcokaqis and his Serbian counterpart.
