Rapper Kanye West has said he is running for president of the United States, competing against Donald Trump, whom he has often said he admires.

"We must now fulfill America's promise by trusting in God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States!" - he wrote on Twitter.

Kanye even secured the votes of Kim Kardashian and entrepreneur Elon Mus, who publicly expressed their support.

But this is not the first time West has expressed a desire to run for the White House. On MTV Video Music Awards 2015, he said he had decided to run for president in 2020. But last November he postponed the date, saying he would run in the 2024 election.

However it is still unclear whether Kanye is really running.

He does not appear to have registered his name with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the November election. The nearest name to the FEC database is a candidate named "Kanye Deez Nutz West".

How the truth stands, remains to be seen!
