A leading expert on disease control in China has stated that the coronavirus outbreak in the country 'has already ended'.
Dr. Zhang Wenhong, who led the fight against COVID-19 in Shanghai, made the statement today as he spoke at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai.
He stressed that vaccines being developed by Chinese researchers against coronavirus would be made to be used in the future because, according to him, the epidemic has passed.
China has reported 7 new infections today, bringing the total number of people affected by coronavirus to 83,581.
There are fears of a new outbreak in the country, but the Chinese doctor claimed that such a thing would not happen.
Dr Zhang, 50, told the audience:
"Artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly today, but I'm sorry to tell everyone that China has kept the coronavirus outbreak under control with traditional wisdom and good management. Six months have passed and China's coronavirus outbreak has already ended. All the medicines and vaccines we are developing now have been made for future use. ”
Zhang's statement comes after another medical expert in China, Prof. Feng Lushao, warned that the coronavirus would stay with human beings for a long time. Some time ago, he called on the Chinese to change their lifestyle to adapt to a new normality, which includes regular control of the virus.
Meanwhile worldwide, the number of people affected by Covid-19 has reached 12 million and at least 548,000 people have lost the battle with the virus.
