Robbie Williams has revealed that he did not want to have children with his wife Ayda Field when they first met.

The 46-year-old The Take That singer confessed that he never wanted to be a father on their podcast, "Staying At Home With The Williamses."

Before becoming a father of four, Robbie admitted that he had feared he would not be able to care for a child when he did not know how to take care of himself.

Despite this, he later became the father of Teddy, seven; Charlie, five; Coco, 18 months and Beau, who was born this year through a surrogate.

Robbie thinks that eventually the fact that he became a father and welcomed four children has generally made him a better person.

"My life is fuller, I'm more stable, more present, more refined, more restrained," he insisted.

Meanwhile, Ayda told The Times: "I was in love with him. He was a loving, beautiful man and he was just as charming, funny and amazing. He had my heart. He was my twin soul.

"He used to say to me, 'I'm never getting married and I never want to have children.'

The happy couple met in 2006 and got married in August 2010.
