The average age of lives lost by Covid -19 is declining as the spread of the pandemic in our country is spreading at a rapid pace, descending to younger ages.
According to official data on death statistics from the Ministry of Health, processed by Monitor, on July 15 (with 101 lives lost) the average age reached 67.8 years, from 71.2 years in the second week of April (April 12). , with 23 lives lost).
From the second month of the pandemic until now the age of death from Coronavirus has decreased by 3.4 years. From the beginning of July to the beginning of June the average age has decreased by 1.3 years.
The decrease in mean age has been noticeable in women. On July 15, the average age of women who lost their lives to Covid-19 was 67.8 years old from 77 years old on April 12, after several cases of young people who did not cope with the disease, such as 49 and 21 years old who died yesterday. .
While for men the average age is almost unchanged at around 68 years old.
For the first time on July 15, the average age of women who lost their lives to Covid-19 is lower than that of men, albeit by a very small margin.
38% of life loss cases were female and 62% male, in line with the global trend where men have a higher fatality rate. However, the weight of women has increased, compared to 33% that was on June 19.
The decrease in the average age after the lifting of the restrictive measures came due to the creation of a foci of infection in the Mother Teresa hospital, where some young patients who were being treated for other diseases lost their lives, while they were also infected with Covid-19.
Pneumologist, Ajet Braho says that the average age of death in our country has decreased after the removal of restrictive measures, as the virus has mostly affected young people. According to Statistics from the Institute of Public Health, the average age of cases confirmed with Covid -19 on July 14 was 46.5 years. As of April 22, the average age of those affected was 47.5 years.
Those affected over 65 make up only 8 percent of the total affected persons as of July 14th. The trend of spread and fatalities at young ages is global, says pulmonologist Luan Dyrmishi. As it was learned that the virus is most fatal in the elderly, this category increased care and protective measures, while young people were more exposed after the removal of the measures, he argued.
Doctors claim that it is true that women in the country live longer (the birth expectancy of women in the country is older, compared to 77 men), but still women have a higher burden of disease even at a young age.
Deaths by age group, 19% are under 60 years old
Death statistics from Covid-19, show that the age group with the highest fatalities is 60-69 years old, with 39% of lives lost. 27 percent were aged 70-79 years and 16% over the age of 80 years.
As a result of the loss of lives at a young age, especially in women, there is an increase in the severity of fatalities from Covid-19 under the age of 60, which have reached almost 19% of the total, from 9% on June 19 .
In Italy, although with a very high number of fatalities, the share of deaths in persons under 60 years of age is about 5% of the total.

Only 2% of cases in the country did not have concomitant diseases. The predominant comorbidities are high blood pressure and diabetes. In fact, circulatory diseases are the leading cause of death in the country, accounting for 50% of the total.
INSTAT data for 2019 show that on average in the country, 21.9 thousand people lost their lives due to natural causes in the country, or about 60 people per day. More than half of them (32 per day) passed away from the circulatory system (heart, stroke, etc.). Tumors killed about 10 people a day (see chart below).

So far, the highest rate of deaths in the country from natural causes was recorded in 2014, with 22.4 thousand people and in 2017, with 22.2 thousand people. While in the first quarter, the highest level was recorded in 2017.
