Going on vacation without having your head back for the things you leave at home is almost impossible. So, before you leave, it is good to use some tricks that are valid for after the holidays. Like that coin in the fridge.

It may happen that while you are on vacation, there is an electrical outage in the house. If the electricity is not turned on for more than 1 or 2 days, the food in the refrigerator may thaw. However, upon return, you may not notice the difference, if the foods are thawed and frozen again.

But during this stage, you may be at risk from foods that are not very resistant to freezing-thawing because they can release some types of bacteria and salmonella.

But how do you tell if food has thawed and frozen again?

Simple! Fortunately, there is a handy way to help you find out if your refrigerator is running low on electricity.

To do this, you need a plastic glass of water. Put in the freezer to make ice. Next, put a coin in it and put it back in the fridge.

Thus, if on any occasion you are traveling or vacationing, when you return you find the coin frozen in the water then be sure that there have been power outages and the refrigerator has thawed and frozen again.
