An old Rihanna interview is circulating online in the last few hours, where she talks openly about her relationship with Chris Brown, after the sensational quarrel. Just 3 years after the violence that Chris Brown exercised against Rihanna, she has admitted that she "really loves" her ex-boyfriend and most likely "will always love him".

In 2009, the singer physically assaulted Rihanna on Grammy Awards night, leaving her with severe injuries to her face and body.

As a result, Chris was sentenced to six months in community service. He was also ordered to stay away from her.

But Rihanna admitted that the incident did not stop her from falling in love with Chris. Speaking on Oprah Winfrey's Supersoul Coversations podcast in 2012, Rihanna said:

"We have worked for our friendship. Now we are very close friends. We have built trust again - we love each other and probably will always love each other. And this is not something that will ever change. This is not something that can to eradicate it, if you have ever been in love.

I think he was the love of my life. He was the first love. And I know he loved me the same way ... it's not about being together. I really love him. So, the main thing for me is that he be at peace. "I am not at peace if he is unhappy or if he is still lonely."

As for Oprah's question, whether romance could be revived as it once was, Rihanna answered.

"He is in a relationship, I am single ... but we have maintained a very close friendship since the ban was lifted. We have worked for our relationship, it has not been easy. It's not easy."

She added during the interview that she thought she hated Chris, until she realized she had to forgive him because she still cared.

We do not know if Riri continues to think the same 8 years after this interview, but we do know that both have moved forward with their lives.
