Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and husband Philip have received the Covid-19 vaccine, the Royal Palace said on Saturday. The Queen is 94 years old, while Philip is 99 years old.
According to Reuters, a source from the Royal Palace has said the vaccines were administered by a family doctor at the Queen Windsor Castle residence, adding that the news was made public to counter any speculation.
The United Kingdom is the country most affected by the coronavirus in Europe, with over 2.8 million infected and over 78,000 victims.
The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has promised that, from January 15, "hundreds of thousands of vaccines" will be given in England every day.
The UK launched the coronavirus immunization process on 8 December.
