Harry Brant, the son of supermodel Stephanie Seymour and high-profile businessman Peter Brant, has passed away at the age of 24.
In a statement to the New York Times, his family said this had happened as a result of the overdose.
"We will be forever sad that his life was interrupted by this devastating disease. He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never have the opportunity to see how much more Harry could have done."
He is said to have struggled with drug addiction for several years.
"Harry was not just our son , " the family statement continued, describing him as "a wonderful brother, loving nephew, beloved uncle and a loving friend . "
"He was a creative, loving and powerful spirit who brought light to the hearts of so many people," the statement said. "He was a really nice person inside and out." Harry was a model, appearing in the Italian Vogue and Balmain campaigns. He also previously launched a unisex makeup line with his brother for MAC.
