Despite being one of the most famous families in the world, there is still much to learn about the British royal family. It turns out that they live by some strict rules, making sure they look their best. These traditions set them apart from the rest of us, as we could never use some of their rules in our daily lives. This is what makes this royal family so interesting.

1. Never organize dinners with 13 guests

This is not because the Queen believes in the fairy tale of the ancients that 13 is an unlucky number. She has this strict rule in case one of her guests is superstitious. Therefore, she always has more or less attendees at her formal dinners, never 13.

2. They have 3 or 4 names each

Everyone uses the royal names of their ancestors, such as Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, whose name comes from her great-grandmother (Queen Elizabeth II) and her grandmother (Princess Diana).

3. They can not expose their body too much. They are

required to dress modestly and not too provocatively. This means that wearing cleavage is not allowed.

4. They have used the same baptismal gown for eight generations

A silk and lace dress has been worn by 62 royal babies over 163 years. It was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 for the baptism of her first daughter Princess Victoria. Since then, she has been dressed in all royal baptisms, including Princess Elizabeth and Prince William.

5. Do not wear natural fur materials

Since 2019, the Queen has banned the use of original fur in her closet, which means that from now on she will only have artificial fur clothing. However, she still reuses what she already owns, from hats to her coats.

6. They do not eat potatoes, rice or pasta for dinner

Apparently, the Queen does not like to eat too much starch in her meals, which means that she has banned certain foods from being served to her table. One of her former palace chefs stated that instead there would be fish or steak with vegetables and salad.

7. They are not allowed to earn money

Members of the royal family who receive public money are not allowed to have private income or have a day job. It was therefore unusual for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to prefer to be financially independent.
