American actress Evan Rachel Wood has claimed that singer Marilyn Manson has abused her during their 3-year relationship. Manson and Wood began dating in 2007 and got engaged in 2010, but split the same year.
Manson has denied the allegations, saying they were "terrible distortions of reality". Wood has previously said she is a survivor of rape and domestic abuse, not to mention Manson's name.
Following Wood's allegations, Loma Vista Recordings - which released Manson's latest albums - said in a statement on Twitter that it would no longer work with the artist and would stop promoting his latest album immediately.
The American television network Starz said that Manson's appearance in the fantastic drama American Gods will be removed from an upcoming episode. On Monday, Wood claimed that Manson was her abuser for the first time through a statement posted on her Instagram account.
"My abuser's name is Brian Warner, also known around the world as Marilyn Manson," the Westworld actress claimed. "He started seducing me when I was a teenager and abused me terribly for years. He brainwashed me and manipulated me into submission."
"I have put an end to the fear of revenge, slander or blackmail. I am here to discover this dangerous man and to call on the many industries that have enabled him, before he destroys more lives. "I support many victims who will not be silent anymore," she added.
Manson responded to the allegations on Instagram Monday night, saying:
"Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these latest claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been consensual with partners. Regardless of how, and why, others "Now they are choosing to misinterpret the past. That is the truth."
Other women came out through social media platforms on Monday to make similar statements accusing Manson of abuse.
