When Jill Biden landed from a plane last week, more than anything else, her dress drew attention that has suddenly become the most discussed topic on Twitter. She wore a jacket, dress and a pair of design tights that have generally received positive attention from fans.

However, controversy was not lacking either. There were even some who made sexist jokes about Biden tights.

In 2009, Obama caused a boom of comments when she appeared wearing shorts, which were judged to be too short and inappropriate, during a family trip to the Grand Canyon.

On the other hand, Melania Trump was criticized for wearing stiletto heels during a visit to Texas where residents were hit by Hurricane Houston, in 2017.

In 2018, during a visit to immigrant children at the US-Mexico border, she sparked outrage after wearing a jacket that read, "I really do not care, do you?"

Trump also caused a stir when during a trip to Kenya, in 2018, he appeared with a hat that was understood as a sign of support for colonialism. She wore a white helmet, once preferred by Europeans in African colonies.
