If you did not fall asleep early last night at dinner, you probably noticed that Instagram and Facebook had a problem. The two major social networks were blocked and as with any blocking of them, users turned to Twitter, making the hashtag #InstagramDown trending. About 20 minutes later, the platforms started working again.
A Facebook spokesman later said in an email statement:
"Earlier today, a configuration change made Facebook services unavailable to some people. We quickly investigated and resolved the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience. "

In January, an unknown number of users logged out of their accounts, which Facebook said was due to a configuration change.
In March 2019, Facebook had one of the longest outages in the company’s history and was down for many users for over 12 hours.
Facebook, the world's largest social media network, has nearly 3 billion users a month.
