Mohamed Alabbar, director of Emaar Properties: "New Europe" is very attractive to me. When I see Albania, what is happening with the government there, I see how much everyone is working to develop the country, to move it forward, and how to say it, I want to be the first to go there.

You say that New Europe attracts you and everyone was very surprised when the United Arab Emirates, you personally, made a major move towards these countries, like Serbia, Belgrade, and it worked! This is like a second front in the new Europe. Is that how you see it?
Yes, and since then I have been to all these places. Impressive economic growth, labor force, government working day and night to become part of the real Europe.
So you see it and most people say look at the image that Albania has of corruption, drug trafficking, human trafficking, does that not bother you?
No, unfortunately Albania has a past, because of the previous governments, maybe since before the 90's and it has faced it, it had to go through this phase. Nothing is done overnight, but they have succeeded and all the indicators are very positive in my opinion, so I am investing in a considerable project and I am very proud to be the first in this aspect.

This is a major project, 800 thousand m2, apartments, hotels, offices, a set of facilities I mean. Can this model from the United Arab Emirates, which you realized in Dubai, be transferred to a country like Albania?
Well, I think I have done this in many countries, but the last one was in Serbia, where we took over the train station, and I did the same thing, and it worked extremely well. I really believe that this thing works everywhere in the world, if it does well, with the right partners, to build the largest port on the Adriatic Sea in Durres with over 12 thousand apartments, hotels, restaurants and shops, I think for me it is like to have a dream that I go and turn it into reality.
