Renowned stylist Michael Costello has reacted with a status while watching Miss Universe and noticed the lack of diversity in the famous beauty show. He stressed that there is no representation of tall women in the competition and added that this is worrying at a time when beauty is accepted in all sizes.
"I am shocked and really speechless, because I am currently watching Miss Universe and I am shocked to see that there is absolutely no representation of tall women. Over 30 years have passed and a tall woman has not yet been selected in the top 3, top 5, top 10 best, or even among the top 20 finalists. Especially during these times when beauty, at last, is accepted in all sizes!
My site has been constantly criticized by haters because it supports women of all shapes and sizes, from all walks of life, but I think it is time to look at the representation of women from these contests. My message is not discrediting any of the participating women this year. It is good that all women are using their voice and platforms to raise awareness of all kinds of causes. I applaud all the finalists and women this season.
By no means am I trying to undo Miss Universe, but really, when will the rules of Miss Universe change? When will we see the sizes 08/10/12/14/16/18/20/22/24 represented? We see 74 representatives who are stunning in elegance and intelligence, each supporting wonderful causes, but where and when will we really see the change that so many women are expecting?
"Please do not try to address me in the comments saying that you have not seen this on my page or catwalks, because we all know that diversity is celebrated in every show and post of Michael Costello", he wrote next to photo of three finalist beauties.
