A French court has fined Brigitte Bardot, a world cinema legend who has turned into an animal rights activist. The reason for the fine of 5000 euros, became the word "inhuman", which Brigitte addressed to the head of the national federation of hunters.
The court in the northern city of Arras found the 86-year-old actress guilty of publicly insulting Willy Schraen and members of his hunting club, whom she described as "wildlife terrorists".
In addition, she will pay 1,000 euros in damages to the chief of hunting and another 1,000 for legal costs.
The insults, which Bardot admitted sounded "slightly rude," surfaced in an article she wrote in late 2019 about her animal rights foundation. There she accused President Emmanuel Macron of trying to deceive voters by easing hunting laws.
If she chooses not to pay it is her right, only that the fine increases $ 100 every day. She also has 15 days to delete the editorial from her site.
