August has started with scorching weather all over the country and is expected to be under the influence of hot masses from North Africa during the first week of the month. Although the weekend brought a slight drop in thermal values, high temperatures have gripped the entire country.

Even this Sunday, the highest temperatures were recorded in the districts of Berat and Elbasan, where the thermometer recorded up to 41 degrees Celsius. While in the capital the scorching heat remains even with values ??reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius.

In the north of the country, temperatures reached 39 degrees in Lezha, while in Shkodra up to 38 degrees Celsius.

According to weather forecasters, the heat wave in the coming days, in addition to high temperatures, will be accompanied by dust originating from the Sahara desert.

The red alarm remains on by the Institute of Geosciences regarding the fires. IGJEUM warns of a high risk in almost all regions of the country. Flames are in danger of spreading quickly and due to the wind and high temperatures, their control becomes more difficult.
