Turkish-British novelist and publicist Elif Shafak has published on social media the shocking words of Zarifa Ghafari, the first female mayor of Afghanistan, now that the whole country is in the hands of the Taliban.
"I am sitting here waiting for them to come. There is no one to help me or my family. "They will come for people like me, to kill me" , are the heartbreaking words of Zarifa Ghafari.
"Creepy words from the first brave female mayor Zarifa Ghafari. "Everything seems irrelevant to the cries of Afghan women," wrote novelist Elif Shafak on Twitter.
The Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, also reacted to such a post. Very touched, she simply writes: ' Absolutely heartbreaking.'
