The power of forgiveness: The famous actor hugs his mother, who abandoned him at the age of 8

Actor Hugh Jackman, was just eight years old when his mother, Grace McNeil, left her family in Australia and returned to the UK.

The 52-year-old actor has previously described his mother's sudden departure as a trauma, but time seems to heal all wounds.

Hugh posted a photo on Instagram on Monday, embracing him as the two smiled warmly at each other. A photo which he accompanied with the inscription: 'Mom'

Fans filled the photo with positive comments.

The Broadway star was only 8 years old when Grace left him without saying goodbye.

She left Australia and returned to England, her homeland in the late 1970s, leaving her husband, Christopher Jackman, to raise the children alone.

In December 2012, Hugh told the Australian 60 Minutes program that he still remembered the morning when she left.

"I remember she was of a towel around her head and said goodbye. '

"When I came back from school there was no one at home. Dad prayed every night for Mom to come back. '

Luckily, Hugh and his mother reconciled years later and seem to be living the lost years. This is the power of forgiveness!
