A horrific mess has occurred during an operation to abort an unhealthy baby, in order to save the life of the healthiest twin, at a hospital in Birmingham.

The unimaginable tragedy occurred after a mistake of doctors, who noticed that one of the twins was not properly formed in the mother's womb. Under these conditions, they decided to give birth to a healthy baby and abort the sick baby.

Unfortunately, everything was fatal, as the doctors confused the healthy baby with the sick one and the event turned out to be fatal.

Dr. Fiona Reynolds, a doctor at the hospital, officially said the baby's death was a "fatal mistake", but new protocols have been put in place to reduce the likelihood of the incident recurring.

According to her, the deaths were caused by some " fundamental mistakes ": " Unfortunately, during a specialized fetal procedure, which involved surgery inside the uterus to separate and potentially save the life of a single twin sharing the same placenta, it happened a fatal mistake ”.

The death of the twins has been recorded as one of 700 errors in NHS maternity hospitals in England, which have resulted in fatalities.
