Almost 32% of the Albanian population lives in Tirana and the projections speak of a high rate of internal migration in the coming years.

"Visual Capitalist" ranks the Albanian capital in third place in Europe. In the first two places are ranked 2 Russian cities, based on the average annual population growth rates for the years 2020 - 2025.

According to data from the Opendata of the Municipality of Tirana, the Albanian capital welcomes thousands of new residents every year.

Thus, if in 2017 in Tirana there were about 813 thousand inhabitants, in 2020 there were over 850 thousand resident citizens, ie about 37 thousand more. The highest increase of the last three years belongs to 2018, with an increase of 1.78% or over 14000 new inhabitants.

The increase in population in the capital is mainly a result of internal migration and new births. Thus, in 2020 in the civil status of the Municipality of Tirana were registered 8511 new inhabitants, most of whom came from other districts of the country.

While the natural increase coming from the east - deaths was only 1264 inhabitants. However, the real number of people living and working in Tirana is even higher, including categories such as students or employees.
