During an interview with British Vogue, Adele talked about her exercise regimen. She explained that she added to her exercise routine in recent years as a way to monitor her overall well-being.
But some medical experts have labeled this regimen excessive.
"It was because of my anxiety," she said. "Exercising just made me feel better. It had nothing to do with losing weight, but it was to get stronger and give myself as much time as possible every day without a phone. I became quite addicted to it. "I exercise two or three times a day."
When asked what her routine consists of, the singer replied:
"I do weights in the morning, then I do walking or boxing in the afternoon and then I go and do cardio at night. I was unemployed when I did this routine. And I do it with coaches."
However, medical experts claim that exercising 2 or 3 times a day can be harmful and pose some long-term health risks.
"Maintaining a moderate exercise routine is an essential component of leading a healthy lifestyle," WebMD chief medical officer John Whyte told The New York Post. "But exercising 2 to 3 times a day is excessive."
Whyte added that excessive exercise can lead to injury.
"When we exercise, we stress our muscles, bones and organs," he said. "And if we do not give these parts of our body a chance to heal after use, their function may begin to deteriorate. When you overdo it with the gym, it stresses your body and muscles. Your body then produces cortisol in response. "of that chronic stress. And high cortisol levels can suppress the immune system's ability to avoid disease."
During the interview with Vogue, Adele made a series of stories about key moments in her life.
