Queen Elizabeth spent the night in hospital after canceling her official duties.

Doctors sent the queen to be visited by specialists in London. Buckingham Palace later said Her Majesty came out of the hospital and was in "good spirits" after her hospital stay.

It is believed that the medical team decided to recommend her hospitalization for "practical reasons". This is the first time in 8 years that the queen is hospitalized.

"After medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen went to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary tests and returned to Windsor Castle today (Thursday) for lunch and is in a good mood," the Palace statement said.

It is believed that this is only the fifth time she has been hospitalized in 40 years.

On Wednesday Her Majesty canceled a 2-day trip to Northern Ireland on the advice of doctors. Concerns from the public about her health initially arose when she started using a cane to walk this month.
