This is what happened with Halloween in Albania. For at least 10 years it has become a trend, which has its positive sides for many businesses in the country.
Between costumes, masks, home and business decorations, pumpkins, cakes: the holiday is expected to generate a considerable amount, although there are no specific studies on this.
Families try to find costumes, buy pumpkins, decorate homes, and businesses their premises. What was once seen as a 'foreign holiday' is seen by many as a transition to a real holiday season and is now turning into an industry of hundreds of euros - and that is scary!
'Winners' are businesses that have known how to market and sell this trend, 'losers' are families, which often and with a limited budget, can not say no to children, who are the target group of seen celebrating. And every year, different accessories are needed.
Costume spending is the largest component of Halloween spending, according to surveys conducted at various businesses in the capital as well as online ones. According to them, most people will wear a suit or accessories of a suit. Surprisingly some of them intend to buy a costume for pets as well.
A group of consumers, among the most numerous in our country, are children. This is because the celebrations are encouraged by events in the preschool system, further in school, teenagers and further students. For children, the most popular costumes seem to be princesses and superheroes, while for adults the trend is witches and vampires. But the range has diversified every year. For pets, the main costume is a pumpkin, according to field businesses.
An observation on one of the streets of Tirana, known as the "Cham Market" noticed a change in the daily appearance of clothing and other accessories in the colors "orange and black". Traders claim that this trend has increased over the years, for almost 10 years, the whole of October 'is scary to wear ".
"We have demand", - claims a trader, who says that 5 years ago only in the last days of October there was demand, now it is extended and planned a month ago.
According to various businesses in the capital, even in the pandemic year, demand has been high, especially for home decor. While this year, purchases are at a higher level than last year, the largest share is occupied by costumes for adults and children.
