'Stay healthy and run' is the advice each of us has taken at least once in a lifetime. But when this advice is given by a 105-year-old runner, right after she has just set a new world record for running in the 100 meters, we all need to sit down and pay attention.

Julia Hawkins achieved a record time of 1:02:95 in the 105+ age category at the Louisiana 2021 Senior Games, but despite setting a new standard, she was not entirely satisfied with her performance.

However, when someone asked her if she was happy, she replied shortly "No". The reason was because he wanted to close the race in less than 1 minute. The retired teacher is no stranger to athletics. She started competing in the National Senior Games when she was 50 years old for cycling and won several gold medals, but then withdrew because there was no one her age to compete.

She says she loves to run and be an inspiration to others. The elderly woman added that she will continue to run as long as she can and her message to others is that they should stay active if they want to be happy with age.
