Photos of the family of Prime Minister Edi Rama in the Vatican have made the rounds of the network this Saturday. In the framework of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Albania-Vatican diplomatic relations, Prime Minister Rama, together with his wife and son Zahon had a special meeting at the Holy See with Pope Francis.

As a token of gratitude, the Prime Minister decorated the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The Rama family also laid flowers at the tomb of Albanian Pope Clement XI, known as Pope Albani, as well as at the tomb of John Paul II.

During the meeting with Pope Francis, the Rama family also exchanged gifts. Pope Francis presented the Albanian Prime Minister with a bronze bas-relief of Noah. He also gave him papal documents, including this year’s message for World Peace Day, the document on the Human Brotherhood for World Peace and Living Together, and the March 27, 2020 volume “Statio Orbis” recalling the moment of extraordinary prayer during pandemic isolation in Italy.

As a symbolic sign, the Pope also presented Zahos with the Peace Medal and Linda Rama.

In the video distributed on the official profile of Prime Minister Rama, it appears Pope Francis exchanging gifts with the Rama family and explaining the importance they have for the Vatican.

As a sign of gratitude, the Prime Minister Edi Rama also presented Pope Francis with an icon of 'Madonna dell'Avvento' and an icon of St. Francis. He also donated two paintings and a letter from Father. Gjergj Fishta, Albanian, poet, philosopher and one of the most prominent Albanian writers of the 20th century.
