Kanye West has not given up hope of saving his marriage to Kim Kardashian.
The hip-hop star made a public appeal to his ex-wife to "get back to him immediately" as he performed alongside Drake at the "Free Larry Hoover" concert on Thursday night.
The event, which took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and was broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video, was intended to raise awareness of prison and sentence reform and, more specifically, the Larry Hoover case.
West and Drake have defended the release of Chicago Gangster Diciples co-founder, who was convicted of murder in 1973 and is currently serving six life sentences in a Colorado jail.
During a rendition of his song "Runaway", West decided to deviate from the main message of the concert and launch an attempt to regain his wife.
"I need you to run to me right away," West said, adding a new verse to the song. "More specifically, you Kimberly."
The concert was West's first major performance in five years and his gesture caused a huge backlash from the crowd.
Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February, seven years after the couple got married in a luxury wedding in Italy.
His romantic statement comes weeks after he made it clear he was still hoping for a reconciliation.
