Beverly Johnson made a triumphant comeback at the New York Fashion Week fashion show today and it looked as if the 69-year-old supermodel had never left the catwalk.

"Do you know when you first arrive in New York and look at the buildings and everything looks so magical and exciting? That's how I feel this week," Johnson told Page Six Style.

Johnson, who made history as the first woman of color to appear on the cover of Vogue in August 1974, starred for Sergio Hudson and Bibhu Mohapatra. She looked as gorgeous as ever and says taking care of her body and health is an important part of her life, even when she no longer works on the catwalks.

"I never stopped making it a priority," she says. "Basically, this is the formula for my youthful appearance."

After appearing on the covers of more than 500 magazines during her career, Johnson has opened the doors to many young women of color in the industry. And five decades after starting her career, she says it's a wonderful thing to see how fashion has changed for the better.
