Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra announced they had become parents in January.
"We are very happy to confirm that we have welcomed a child through a surrogate mother," they wrote in a joint statement shared on Instagram. "We respectfully seek privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you very much. "
Their baby came just a week after Chopra expressed her desire to have children in an interview with Vanity Fair.
However the couple did not disclose the girl's name. While recently, it was TMZ that made the baby's name known.
Nick and Priyanka have named their daughter Malti Marie. According to a birth certificate provided by TMZ, the daughter of the famous couple came to life shortly after 20:00. on Jan. 15 at a hospital in San Diego, California.
Malti is a name of Indian origin and means "aromatic flower" or "moonlight".
Chopra and Jonas got married in 2018 with a magnificent 3-day wedding in India. More than 250 guests, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attended the wedding.
