Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez posted on Instagram the first photo of their newborn daughter, a few days after announcing that the little girl's twin brother lost her life during childbirth.
In the photo, the 37-year-old Portuguese is seen with the little girl in his arms, next to his partner, together with their 4 children.
The Manchester United striker writes: " Home, sweet home. Gio and our little one finally joined us. We want to thank everyone for their kind words. Your support has been very important and we feel love and respect for our family. "Now is the time to be grateful for the life we ??have just welcomed into this world."
The footballer described how touched he was by the applause held during the match between Liverpool and Manchester United.
Fans of both teams showed solidarity with the player and applauded in the seventh minute, the same as the number of the Portuguese star.
Some United fans cheered Ronaldo's name and wore his shirt, while Liverpool fans sang You'll Never Walk Alone.
He said he and his family "would never forget this moment of respect and compassion".
The couple described the loss of their son as "the greatest pain any parent can feel".
